Duluth’s Brewers Row Establishes New Brand for Historic Downtown District
By Dave Grandmaison
According to a recent press release from Just Take Action (JTA) – the beer-preneurs who created the iconic Fitger’s Brewhouse – the newly branded Brewers Row was established to promote the growing beer scene in Duluth’s Historic Arts and Theater (HART) District. Participating businesses include:
- Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub
- 7 West Taphouse
- Blacklist Artisan Ales
- The Blind Pig
- Carmody Irish Pub & Brewing
- Fitger’s Brewhouse
- Sir Benedict’s Tavern on the Lake
The press release explains: “Our aim is to heighten awareness of Downtown Duluth as a craft beer destination in conjunction to all of the great changes now underway in the Historic Arts and Theatre District.”
I had a chance to follow up with Marissa Saurer – JTA’s Director of Marketing, Brand, and Communications – and she explained that “Brewers Row is a group of like-minded craft beer-centric businesses that hope to promote downtown, and more specifically Superior Street to our ever growing tourism industry. When we unite, and promote Brewers Row, we all benefit. An official association is the next step. We feel that downtown sometimes gets lost in the shuffle when people and visitors think of Duluth. By designating ourselves as ‘Brewers Row’, it shines a light on just how prominent Superior Street is in Duluth’s Craft culture. This is something that we hope to instill in the minds of the general public.”
As the excitement for Duluth’s Craft Beer Scene continues to grow I’ll say cheers to Brewers Row!
