Position: Driver

Base Salary: $10/hour
Weekly Commitment: 20 hours/week (approx.)
Work Schedule: Seasonal variation with primarily Thursday, Friday, Saturday shifts from 1 November to 1 June. Summer shifts daily.
Description: Our drivers are critical part of the Tour Operations Team. Drivers ensure the timely implementation of tours and shuttling services and play and important role in tour implementation and guest safety. This position involves substantial public and Affiliate interaction and requires courtesy, compassion, effective communication, attention to detail, and strict embodiment of our Core Values.
Job Duties:

  • Arrive on time and ready to begin tour preparation
  • Conduct pre-tour vehicle inspection; certify inspection form
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle
  • Ensure adequate tour supplies are on board the bus/van prior to each tour
  • Know and drive the appropriate tour route and tour schedule
  • Be courteous and professional when greeting guests; answer any initial questions
  • Assist tour guide with logistics and coordination
  • Park bus/van after dropping off guests; then join the group
  • Engage and interact with tour guests
  • Be courteous and helpful to Affiliate staff
  • Watch the time and stay on tour schedule
  • Complete required paperwork during and after each tour
  • Clean bus/van at the end of the tour

Basic Requirements:

  • Clean driving record
  • Have/obtain MN DOT Driver Certification Card
  • Experience pulling trailers recommended
  • Experience leading groups of people and/or guiding tours recommended
  • Knowledge of Duluth history and current events and Lake Superior and brewing content helpful

Position: Brewery Tour Guide
Base Salary: $10/hour
Weekly Commitment: 20 hours/week (approx.)
Work Schedule: Seasonal variation with primarily Thursday, Friday, Saturday shifts. Potential for year-round part-time employment. There may also be opportunity for special event bookings.
Description: The Brewery Tour Guide is a first-line ambassador for The Duluth Experience and The City of Duluth. The Brewery Tour Guide conducts lively and factual brewery tours of Duluth’s breweries and provides effective customer service to guests and Affiliates. Other duties include documenting guest feedback/and or questions for leadership and with assisting drivers with vehicle upkeep and safety. This position involves substantial public and Affiliate interaction and requires courtesy, compassion, effective communication, attention to detail, and strict embodiment of our Core Values.

  • Demonstrate and maintain proficiency in the basics of brewing
  • Arrive on time and ready to begin tour preparation
  • Assist driver with pre-trip vehicle inspection

  • Be courteous and professional when greeting guests; answer any initial questions

Basic Requirements:

  • Experienced in beer and brewing process basics
  • Experience leading groups of people and/or guiding tours
  • Public speaking experience

Position: History Tour Guide

Weekly Commitment: 20 hours/week (approx.)
Work Schedule: Seasonal variation with Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as primary work days. There may also be opportunity for special event bookings.

The History Tour Guide conducts lively and factual history tours and provides effective customer service to guests and Affiliates. Position: Kayak Tour Guide
Base Salary: $10/hour
Weekly Commitment: 20 hours/week (approx.)

Description: The Kayak Tour Guide is a first-line ambassador for The Duluth Experience and The City of Duluth. The Kayak Tour Guide conducts lively and factual paddling tours and provides effective customer service to guests and Affiliates. Other duties include documenting guest feedback/and or questions for leadership along with cleaning, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and outdoor adventure equipment. This position involves substantial public and Affiliate interaction and requires courtesy, compassion, effective communication, attention to detail, and strict embodiment of our Core Values.
Job Duties:

  • Arrive on time and ready to begin tour preparation
  • Transport guests in a 15-passenger van
  • Operate vehicles and trailer
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspection
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicle
  • Ensure adequate tour gear and supplies are on board the bus/van prior to each tour
  • Be courteous and professional when greeting guests; answer any initial questions
  • Confer with Team Leader regarding logistics and coordination of tour
  • Deliver welcome presentation and Duluth-related content to group in a fun and engaging manner
  • Load/unload gear and supplies
  • Ensure accuracy of tour content
  • Lead guests in kayak and paddle orientation, safety and rescue, basic stroke mechanics, and group formation
  • Lead guests to destination points such as Park Point, St. Louis River Estuary, Duluth Harbor, and the William A. Irvin
  • Provide content on Duluth cultural and natural history, geology, Lake Superior facts, flora and fauna information to guests when appropriate
  • Be courteous and helpful to Affiliate staff
  • Monitor time and stay on tour schedule
  • Complete required paperwork during and after each tour
  • Clean bus/van and trailer at the end of the tour

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience with kayaking basics (i.e., safety and rescue, basic stroke mechanics, and group formation)
  • Trailering and 15-passenger van experience recommended
  • Experience leading tours and/or kayaking trips
  • ACA kayaking certifications recommended but not required
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification required
  • MN DOT Driver Certification Card
  • Knowledge of Duluth cultural and natural history, current events and Lake Superior content recommended

  • Provide content on Duluth cultural and natural history, geology, Lake Superior facts, flora and fauna information to guests when appropriate
  • Be courteous and helpful to Affiliate staff
  • Monitor time and stay on tour schedule
  • Complete required paperwork during and after each tour
  • Clean bus/van and trailer at the end of the tour

Basic Requirements:

  • Experienced in cycling basics (i.e., pedal techniques, obstacle negotiation, posturing, shifting, braking, and basic bike repair)
  • Experience leading tours and/or bicycle trips
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification required
  • MN DOT Driver Certification Card recommended
  • Knowledge of Duluth cultural and natural history, current events and Lake Superior content recommended
