When do you offer the Dark History Bus Tours?

Is the Dark History Bus Tour going to be scary?

  • The stories that we’ve hand-picked for the Dark History Bus Tour are unsettling and a bit spooky. But don’t worry, this isn’t a hokey, haunted-house type of experience designed to scare you with actors dressed up like goblins and ghouls. We think that Duluth’s dark history is creepy enough on its own!

What do we see and learn?

  • The Dark History Bus Tour is designed to provide a chilling and sometimes unsettling drive through some of Duluth’s lesser-known stories and historical events that folks around town don’t necessarily like to talk about.
  • We’ve hand-picked our tour content to be fun, engaging, and historically accurate.
  • We will include some speculation on reported ghost sightings and weird happenings to spice up the tour content as well.

Is this a ghost tour?

  • We don’t consider the Dark History Bus Tour to be a classic ghost tour. We definitely include some great ghost stories – because they’re fun and creepy – but our approach is to go beyond the supernatural experiences to look at the historical incident(s) that explain these ghostly apparitions. This includes murders, gunfights, tragedies and other unsolved mysteries from Duluth’s history.

How long is the Dark History Bus Tour?

  • The Dark History Bus Tour is approximately 2 hours of fun!

Can I book a group for the Duluth History Bus Tour?

  • Yes. Our tour bus can accommodate up to 14 guests. Private group tours and/or tours for larger groups can be arranged by filling out our Special Events Inquiry Form or by giving us a call at: (218) 464-6337.

Where should I park?

  • We recommend that you use the public parkinglot across the street from the Dewitt-Seitz Building.

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable, closed toe shoes and that you avoid wearing high heels. During the Dark History Bus Tour you’ll will be taking a walk along some uneven terrain as we explore one of Duluth’s spookier sites. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
  • We do spend a little bit of time off of the bus so please check the weather and plan ahead. If it looks like rain, we recommend that you bring a raincoat and/or umbrella.

Would The Duluth Experience ever cancel a tour?

  • Possibly. If unsafe weather conditions arise, The Duluth Experience reserves the right to cancel a tour to protect your safety and the safety of our crew. Your ticket will be refunded or we can help get you booked on an alternate tour – whichever you prefer.
  • We need a minimum of 5 attendees to run a tour. If this threshold is not met, The Duluth Experience may have to cancel the tour and you will be refunded or booked on an alternate tour.
