Last weekend was an amazing celebration of Minnesota’s Craft Beer Scene. Duluth hosted the annual All Pints North Summer Beer Festival on Saturday with a sold out crowd of 3,700 craft beer lovers in the beautiful Bayfront Festival Park. It was an amazing day of great beer and excitement for Minnesota’s rapid rise as the Midwest craft beer destination. Let’s face it… the best beer comes from right here!
In advance of the festival, Andrew Schmitt (a.k.a. Schmitty) recorded a live podcast at Endion Station as part of his ongoing MN BeerCast. I had the honor of joining the conversation with Schmitty and the other guests: Brad Nelson from the Fitger’s Brewhouse, Chelsey Whittington from Vikre Distillery, and Duluth Mayor Don Ness.
We discussed a range of topics that included the early origins of Fitger’s Brewhouse, Vikre’s progress with new spirits, the legal challenges and opportunities for the growth of these industries in Duluth, and the connection between craft beer and the active lifestyles and adventures that reflect the greatest aspects of our city.

The BeerCast made for a fun conversation and provided a great opportunity for everyone on the panel to promote the craft of locally produced products and the entrepreneurial spirit that have been significant drivers in Duluth’s local economy.
