After leaving the Army, he attended Vermilion Community College where he completed the Outdoor Leadership Program. Chad is now pursuing a bachelors in Outdoor Education at UMD. History & Brewery Tour Guide
Nick’s fascination with Duluth’s natural history started at an early age, when he explored Duluth’s unique geology and topography. After relocating to Duluth in 2005, Nick began an in-depth study of the connection between the Great Lakes waterway and early settlement by Native American and European populations. His interest in the region’s history was borne out of a deep admiration for the area, the lake, and its people. Nick is eager to continue to dig deeper into these subjects and share the resources and information he compiles with The Duluth Experience’s guests. Nick is an accomplished marathon runner and a wicked good disc golfer.

Bud is a Duluth native – and proud of it! Like many young Duluthians, Bud left town shortly after graduating from high school in 2000 and moved out west to participate in the Americorps program in Sacramento, California. Bud traveled the west coast for a number of years and worked on a variety of civil service projects before moving back to Minnesota to study Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Following his dreams, Bud went on to help organize a bunch of running events around the country… but his home was always Duluth. Now he’s back to help introduce folks to the local craft beer scene. Bud has over 13 years of experience in the restaurant industry and has a deep love for craft beer and good whiskey. In his free time, Bud enjoys biking and hiking with his dog Blizzard.

Ken is a one-of-a-kind guy. Not only does he guide Brewery Tours for The Duluth Experience… he’s also the mastermind behind one of the North Shore’s most exciting breweries – Borealis Fermentery! Ken is a wealth of brewing knowledge and has been brewing for over 22 years. In 2002 Ken took a job working as a research engineer in the Netherlands. He traveled extensively and immersed himself in the world of Belgian beer. In 2006 he relocated to Lake Superior’s North Shore, purchased twenty acres of land near Knife River and built a straw bale house that became the – now famous – Borealis Fermentery. With Ken as your guide you’ll learn more about the brewing process than you ever thought possible and you’ll gain some interesting perspective on the business behind brewing craft beer.
Dennis spends his winters in Florida and drives for The Duluth Experience History Tours during the summer. He and his wife Kay are long-time friends of Dave’s parents and he always makes sure to drop off plenty of Bent Paddle beer when he visits… pretty much the ideal Team Member!
