Position: Brewery Tour Guide
Base Salary: $11/hour (plus tips)
Weekly Commitment: 10-20 hours/week (varies by booked tours and weather conditions)
Work Schedule: On-call position throughout the year available on Thursday, Friday, Saturday evenings, and Saturday mornings. There may also be opportunities for special event shifts throughout the year (e.g., private tours, beer festivals, outreach, etc.).
Description: As a Brewery Tour Guide, you are an ambassador for our local craft beer scene. Your primary role involves delivering engaging tours that educate and entertain guests while providing effective customer service to guests and partners. As a member of the hospitality industry, we pride ourselves on crafting fun and memorable experiences for folks who have chosen to spend their time with us. We want them to have the best possible experience and walk away excited to tell their friends all about it. This position involves substantial public and partner interaction and requires courtesy, compassion, effective communication, attention to detail, and strict embodiment of our Core Values.

Job Duties:

  • Understand and represent The Duluth Experience brand
  • Lead amazing tours that connect our guests to Duluth
  • Deliver tour content that engages guests in a fun and educational way
  • Provide an insider’s perspective on our great local breweries
  • Demonstrate passion for our local craft beer scene
  • Maintain a professional, guest-focused approach to customer service
  • Demonstrate a thirst to always be learning

Basic Requirements:

  • Great personality, enthusiasm, and storytelling ability
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the brewing process
  • Ability to pass the Cicerone Level 1 – Certified Beer Server Exam
  • Experience leading groups of people and/or guiding tours
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ability to obtain a MN DOT Driver Certification Card

Position: City Tour Guide
Base Salary: $11/hour (plus tips)
Weekly Commitment: 10-20 hours/week (varies by booked tours and weather conditions)
Work Schedule: On-call position during the months of May through October. There may also be opportunities for special event and step-on-guide shifts as they occur throughout the year.

Position: Kayak Adventure Guide
Base Salary: $11/hour (plus tips)
Weekly Commitment: 20-30 hours/week (varies by booked tours and weather conditions)
Work Schedule: On-call position during the months of May through October. There may also be opportunities for special event shifts throughout the year (e.g., private tours, paddle festivals, outreach, etc.).
Description: As a Kayak Adventure Guide, you are a trip leader and an educator. Your primary role involves delivering safe, engaging tours that educate and entertain guests while providing effective customer service. As a member of the hospitality industry, we pride ourselves on crafting fun and memorable experiences for folks who have chosen to spend their time with us. We want them to have the best possible experience and walk away excited to tell their friends all about it. This position involves substantial public and partner interaction and requires courtesy, compassion, effective communication, attention to detail, and strict embodiment of our Core Values.

  • Lead amazing tours that connect our guests to Duluth
  • Deliver tour content that engages guests in a fun and educational way

Basic Requirements:

  • Great personality, enthusiasm, and storytelling ability
  • Experience with kayaking basics (i.e., safety and rescue, stroke mechanics, and group formation)
  • Experience leading groups of people and/or guiding kayak trips
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ability to obtain a MN DOT Driver Certification Card
  • Experience driving a 15-passenger van and trailering
  • ACA kayaking certifications recommended but not required
  • Current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification required
