Earth Rider Brewery Wins Award at World Beer Cup
Twin Ports Beer Scene Making Waves at International Competition
If you’ve had the chance to try any of Earth Rider’s beers, you know how good they taste. If you know the brilliant brewers behind the Superior, WI brewery… you’d understand exactly why their beer is so good. We all know. And now the world knows because our friends at Earth Rider Brewery earned the 2018 World Beer Cup bronze medal in the Oatmeal Stout category for their North Tower Stout!
World Beer Cup winners are selected by an international panel of 295 beer judges from 33 countries. Widely regarded as the “Olympics of Beer,” this year’s competition included an impressive field of 8,234 entries from 2,515 breweries in 66 countries… the largest competition to date. As you can imagine… there’s a heck of a lot of great beer in this competition. As Earth Rider’s founder, Tim Nelson, put it “A lot of things have to go right to make beer worthy of an award at the World Beer Cup. This accolade is a testament to the knowledge and attention to detail of our brewing team”. So true Tim!
Awards were given in 101 beer-style categories during the World Beer Cup award ceremony on May 3, 2018 at Music City Center in Nashville. Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup has been held biennially since 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement. Earth Rider opened their 20-barrel production brewery in Superior’s North End neighborhood in 2017 and serves their beer next door at the Cedar Lounge. Their North Tower Stout is a heavy bodied ale with malty accents of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit balanced with a modest hop presence.
