Is this a party bus?

  • Nope. Trust us, you’re going to have a good time on a Duluth Experience Brewery Tour. That said, we are not a party bus experience. This is a tour… you’ll get to sample a bunch of great brews but the goal isn’t getting blasted. The goal is learning about the local beer scene and having a fun time along the way.

When do you offer the brewery tours?

Do I have to be 21 years old to go on the brewery tour?

  • Yes. You will need a current and valid ID to join this tour. Don’t forget it!
  • This is very important for us. We will check your ID when you board the bus and the breweries & brewpubs may check again. Exceptions for private or group tours can be arranged by giving us a call at: (218) 464-6337.
  • If you show up and you are under age, you’ll be asked to leave and come back when you turn 21!

Which breweries do we get to visit?

  • We’re proud to work with all of the local breweries between Duluth, Superior and Two Harbors! Check out our list of brewery partners for a complete list.
  • Long story short, we have partnered with all the local breweries and visit each of the breweries during one or more of our brewery tours. The final lineup of breweries for a given tour is consistent (see the Brewery Tour page) but we do reserve the right to modify tour itinerary to respond to the scheduling needs of our partners.

Is there food included in the tour?

  • Yes! Each brewery tour includes a meal at a locally owned restaurant that we’ve hand-picked for their commitment to good food made with fresh ingredients.
  • You’ll be provided with a menu of options to choose from once you arrive for the tour. Each meal will have a vegetarian option and most dietary constraints can be accommodated – please give us a call at (218) 464-6337 to talk specifics.
  • We also provide snacks and bottled water on the bus.
  • Your meal is included but we ask that – if you order additional drinks, appetizers, or deserts – you cover the extra charges for those items.
  • One last note: your tour ticket does not include gratuity for the restaurant service staff. Please leave a few dollars on the table for their effort. It’s their livelihood.

At what point do we eat?

  • Thirsty Thursday Brewery Tour: catered dinner from Toasty’s Duluth is served at Blacklist Artisan Ales – approximately 8:15pm.
  • TGI Friday Brewery Tour: dinner from Northern Waters Smokehaus is served at Hoops Brewing- approximately 8:00pm.
  • Twin Ports Brewery Tour: pizza lunch is served at Thirsty Pagan – approximately 1:15pm.
  • Duluth & Beyond Brewery Tour: lunch from Toasty’s Duluth is served at Hoops Brewing – approximately 1:15pm.
  • Saturday Night Brewery Tour: dinner is served at Canal Park Brewing Co. – approximately 9:00pm.

Should I leave a tip at the restaurant?

  • We encourage you to leave a tip for the restaurant server as we don’t include gratuity for the restaurant service staff in the price of your tour.

Do you have any testimonials from past guests?

  • Yes! We encourage our guests to post reviews online. Check out The Duluth Experience Trip Advisor Page to see what folks are saying about their Duluth Experience.

Will I get a confirmation email after I purchase my tour ticket(s)?

  • Yes! You should receive a confirmation email. Sometimes, this email gets routed to your spam folder so check there if you don’t see it.
  • The most important thing to bring to the tour with you is your driver’s license or some form of ID. We’ve got your name on our roster and we’ll check you in when you arrive.

Where do we meet The Duluth Experience to start the tour?

  • All of the brewery tours start and end in front of the Fitger’s Complex on Superior Street (map link: Fitger’s Complex, 600 E. Superior Street, Duluth, MN 55802). We do our best to pull up right in front of the Fitger’s Inn under the green awning. Look for The Duluth Experience bus out front or, in case of bad weather, wait inside the complex near the doors and our guides will come and find you.
  • Here’s a photo of the meeting location:

  • If you’re having trouble finding us just call! Our number is (218) 464-6337.

What should I wear for the brewery tour?

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable, closed toe shoes and that you avoid wearing high heels. We will be standing and walking around inside the breweries which are often in operation during the tour.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather. Check the forecast and plan accordingly. If it looks like rain, we recommend that you bring a raincoat and/or umbrella.

Where should I park?

  • We recommend that you use the large parking ramp directly behind the Pickwick Restaurant. This is the most convenient parking option. It’s paid ramp but you can get your parking (partially) validated if you visit any of the shops inside the Fitger’s Complex.
  • Here are the directions if you’re approaching from Interstate 35:
    1. Exit at the Lake Avenue exit (exit 256B)
    2. Go left onto Lake Avenue
    3. Merge into the right lane
    4. At the first set of lights, turn right onto E. Superior Street
    5. Follow E. Superior Street 4 blocks
    6. Just past 4th Avenue E, take the next right (before the Pickwick Restaurant)
    7. Follow road straight into parking ramp
    8. Park the car on the top level of the ramp (if there are open spaces)
  • Now, from the parking ramp to the meeting location in front of the Fitger’s Complex:
    1. Starting at the top level of the ramp
    2. Look for the red bridge by the Pickwick Restaurant
    3. Cross the red bridge
    4. Walk to the corner of the Pickwick Restaurant
    5. Turn right
    6. Follow the sidewalk towards the Fitger’s Building
    7. Hang out outside the Fitger’s Building under the green awning
    8. Watch for our guide to pull up in a silver van with a white trailer

How long are the brewery tours?

  • Each brewery tour is approximately 4 – 5 hours of fun! This includes time for pick-up and drop-off, transportation between breweries (with content on the North Shore Craft Beer Scene, scenic views, and a bit of Duluth history), the brewery tours themselves, and a spectacular meal from a locally owned restaurant.

Are craft beer samples included with the tour?

  • Absolutely! C’mon, this is a brewery tour!
  • Our brewery tours include beer samples at each brewery. Please note that the minimum number of samples will vary among the breweries we visit but we typically enjoy four 5-oz samples per brewery.
  • Any additional pints, growlers, and other merchandise can to be purchased by the attendee(s).

Are there discounts for group bookings?

  • Yes! If you book 7 or more tickets on a tour you will receive a 10% discount off your total. Send us an email or give us a call at: (218) 464-6337 for more details.

Can I bring booze and beer with me to the tour?

  • We do not allow our guests to bring their own booze or beer on the bus. Don’t worry… you’ll get more than enough samples of amazing local beer.
  • Plus, feel free to purchase as many growlers as you’d like during the tour and you can even drink on the bus!

Is there a possibility that the brewery lineup for the tour I booked could change?

  • It doesn’t happen often but it happens. Due to circumstances that we cannot control, the brewery lineup could change at the last minute. We’ve done our best to schedule out the tours with the breweries but things could change.

Would The Duluth Experience ever cancel a tour?

  • Possibly. If unsafe weather conditions arise, The Duluth Experience reserves the right to cancel a tour to protect your safety and the safety of our crew. Your ticket will be refunded or we can help get you booked on an alternate tour – whichever you prefer.
  • We need a minimum of 4 attendees to run the tour. If this threshold is not met, The Duluth Experience may have to cancel the tour and you will be refunded or booked on an alternate tour.

What is the policy if I have to cancel my ticket?

  • We have a pretty forgiving cancellation & refund policy. You will receive a full refund if your tickets are cancelled more than 72 hours ahead of time. There is a 50% refund if cancelled between 72 and 24 hours. There is no refund if you cancel with less than 24 hours before a tour.

Do you accept walk-on customers?

  • We do but there is no guarantee that there will be enough seats available for you and your party. Please call ahead [(218) 464-6337] to reserve a seat or check out our Brewery Tour schedule and book online.
