When do you offer the History & Sightseeing Bus Tours?

Can I book a large group for this tour?

  • Yes. Our tour bus can accommodate up to 14 guests. Private group tours and/or tours for larger groups can be arranged by filling out our Special Events Inquiry Form or by giving us a call at: (218) 464-6337.

Will I get a confirmation email after I purchase my tour ticket(s)?

  • Yes! You should receive a confirmation email. Sometimes, this email gets routed to your spam folder so check there if you don’t see it.
  • The most important thing to bring to the tour with you is your driver’s license or some form of ID. We’ve got your name on our roster and we’ll check you in when you arrive.

Where do we meet The Duluth Experience to start the tour?

  • The Duluth History & Sightseeing Bus Tours begin and end in front of the Dewitt-Seitz Building in Canal Park (map link: 394 S Lake Ave, Duluth, MN 55802). Look for The Duluth Experience bus out front of the Amazing Grace Bakery. In case of bad weather, just wait inside the doors to the Dewitt-Seitz Building and we’ll come and find you.

Where should I park?

  • We recommend that you use the large public parking lot directly in front of the Dewitt-Seitz Building when joining the History & Sightseeing Bus Tour. The parking lot is directly across the street from the Dewitt-Seitz Building.

How long is this tour?

  • The Duluth History & Sightseeing Bus Tour is approximately 4 hours long.

What do we see and learn about?

What should I wear for a bus tour?

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable, closed toe shoes and that you avoid wearing high heels. You will be visiting a couple of local historic sites during the tour and you’ll spend some time exploring so plan to do a little bit of walking. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
  • Check the weather and plan ahead. We always recommend that you dress for the weather.

What do we see and learn during the History & Sightseeing Bus Tour?

  • The History & Sightseeing Bus Tour is designed to provide a comprehensive historical journey and sightseeing adventure through Duluth.
  • We have partnered with the Historic Glensheen Mansion, the William A. Irvin, and the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and admission to these famous Duluth attractions is included with the tour! Sit back and enjoy the ride as we transport you through Duluth and its rich history.

Is the History & Sightseeing Bus Tour handicap accessible?

  • Unfortunately, our bus is not accessible to folks using wheelchairs. We plan to make future additions to our fleet with wheelchair accessibility but we’re not there yet.
  • While The Depot is accessible to wheelchairs, neither Glensheen nor the William A. Irvin are.
  • Furthermore, we also want to make sure you know that the William A. Irvin has: 19 staircases (some of which are ladders), narrow corridors and spaces, and some rather high spots along the tour.
  • We do have a great option tho… our Duluth Walking Tours are totally accessible to wheelchairs and are great ways to learn more about Duluth.

Are there discounts for group bookings?

  • Yes. If you book 7 or more seats on a tour you will receive a 10% discount on your total. Give us a call at (218) 464-6337 or email us for more details.
  • Children under 10-years of age ride the History & Sightseeing Bus Tour for free.

Would The Duluth Experience ever cancel a tour?

  • Possibly. If unsafe weather conditions arise, The Duluth Experience reserves the right to cancel a tour to protect your safety and the safety of our crew. Your ticket will be refunded or we can help get you booked on an alternate tour – whichever you prefer.
  • We need a minimum of 4 attendees to run a tour. If this threshold is not met, The Duluth Experience may have to cancel the tour and you will be refunded or booked on an alternate tour.
  • If a cancellation occurs, you will be notified the night before your tour.

What is the policy if I have to cancel my ticket?

  • You will receive a full refund if your tickets are cancelled more than 72 hours ahead if time. There is a 50% refund if cancelled between 72 and 24 hours. There is no refund if you cancel with less than 24 hours before a tour.

Do you accept walk-on customers?

  • We do but there is no guarantee that there will be enough seats available for you and your party. Please call us at (218) 464-6337 to reserve a seat or check out the Tour Schedule to book online.

Do you have any testimonials from past guests?

  • Yes! We encourage our guests to post reviews online. Check out The Duluth Experience Trip Advisor Page to see what folks are saying about their Duluth Experience.
