Symphony Backstage Experience
A New Way To Connect With The Classics
Are you a symphony lover? Are you “symphony-curious”? Are you looking for a new, unique date night idea? Well, have we got an experience for you!
The new Backstage Experience launches on January 31st and it’s something we’ve been brainstorming with the DSSO for years! At the heart of this unique experience is the belief that the power of symphonic music rests in its ability to connect with the audience.
To the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, connecting with the communities they serve has never been more important. Our team was (and continues to be) inspired by the new ideas coming from our local symphony and the inspiring efforts that they are making to connect with new audiences around the Twin Ports. The “Beertoven On Tour” events are a great example… teaming up with local breweries, DSSO is able to showcase the beauty of orchestral music to a brand new demographic. In doing so, they build critical partnerships with local businesses and recruit new fans to the symphony.
With our new partnership, we’re expanding on that idea and adding an experiential component that immerses guests in the symphony and showcases masterpieces that span not only music, but food and craft beer as well. I think it’s a delicious recipe for fun.
What Is The Backstage Experience?
The Duluth Experience and The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra have come together in the spirit of collaboration with a common goal – to create an immersive experience that breaks down the barrier between audiences and musicians, and creates a deeper connection to the harmonies that bring us together in Symphony Hall.
The new Backstage Experience with The Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra explores the power of symphonic music and combines the harmonies of locally crafted brews and locally sourced ingredients. We’ve pulled in our friends at Hoops Brewing and Lake Avenue Restaurant – both strong DSSO supporters – to round out this amazingly delicious experience.
This unique experience includes transportation and tour content provided by The Duluth Experience along with guided craft beer sampling with Master Brewer Dave Hoops at Hoops Brewing, a gourmet meal crafted by Executive Chef Jef Zervas at Lake Avenue Restaurant, and an exclusive backstage experience with the DSSO.
Once we arrive at Symphony Hall, guests will get a chance to meet with innovative Music Director, Dirk Meyer, before sitting in on the Friday night dress rehearsal. We’ll join Dirk and the musicians onstage, explore the sound space with Director of Artistic Operations, Heidi Lord, and get an opportunity to interact with musicians during their rehearsal break.
This is a one-of-a-kind experience and we’re excited about our new partnership with the creative team from the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra!
Thanks – I hope to see you backstage!
