Take A Hike in Duluth

National Take A Hike Day Celebration

By Dave Grandmaison – Co-Founder & CEO

Those of us who live in Duluth know that our local trails and parks are a significant part of our daily lives. We walk out our back door and have nearly instant access to amazing pockets of open space across the city. The Superior Hiking Trail and Duluth Traverse meander their way across the landscape and connect us to the forests and streams that give Duluth its unique character… that epic backcountry feel with an authentic front-country vibe.

On November 17th we celebrate National Take A Hike Day in Duluth by getting out and exploring Duluth’s amazing park system.

The National Take a Hike Day celebration is held each year on November 17 to encourage folks to get out and explore. Lucky for us, Duluth boasts approximately 11,000 acres of open space with over 150 miles of unpaved hiking trails and over 100 parks… now that’s something to celebrate!

Events around the country will be held on November 17th to celebrate National Take a Hike Day. Join The Duluth Experience for a free social hike in one of our favorite local parks – Chester Park. Our guides will meet folks at the Burrito Union at 2pm to begin the hike, explore the trails, learn a bit about Duluth’s park system, and enjoy the fresh air. Duluth’s parks are certainly worth celebrating!

Be sure to wear good shoes or hiking boots. Bring a snack, your buddies, and some warm layers – including a warm hat and mittens… it’s November in Duluth so who knows what the weather will bring!
